The problem of the damage of the bioimplants is very important today. In the endoprosthesis surgery there is a large percentage of implant defects, which cause the failure of the whole prosthesis. One kind of the total hip replacement functionality loss is acetabular cup pull-off from pelvis bone. This paper is aimed at manufacture perturbations (shape deviations) analysis as one of the possible reasons to this kind of failure. Dimension and of geometry manufacturing perturbations (roundness) were analyzed in detail. It was found, that these perturbations affect considered values of contact pressure and frictional moment. Contact pressure and frictional moment are quantities affecting replacement success and durability.

Analysis and Modeling of Dynamic Properties if Interactive Drive System, Croatian Metallurgical Society
journal article in Web of Science

The recent drive systems are considered as interactive systems containing a range of subsys-tems with different physical nature. This contribution deals with the modelling of mechatronic drive systems using numerical package DYNAST. The theoretical general observations are demonstrated on particular experiments on real system.

The paper deals with the high level software architecture for autonomous mobile robot Bender II, medium size wheeled nonholonomic mobile robot with Ackerman chassis for both indoor/outdoor environment. High level software uses hybrid approach combining common layered architecture with reactive control. Local navigation including static/dynamic obstacle detection/avoidance is based on laser range finder data. Global navigation in indoor environment is based on fusion of odometry based position estimation with precomputed scan matching localization technique. Architecture description is accompanied by tests results ob-tained in real environment.

The threedimensional finite element (FE) model of eucaryotic cell presented in the paper comprehends elements representing cell membrane, cytoplasm and nucleus, and a complex tensegrity structure representing cytoskeleton. In contrast to the previous models, this tensegrity structure consists of several parts. External and internal parts count 30 struts and 60 cables each and their corresponding nodes are interconnected by 30 radial members; these parts represent cortical, nuclear and deep cytoskeletons, respectively. This arrangement enables us to simulate the load transmission from the extracellular space via membrane receptors (focal adhesions) to the central part of the cell (nucleus, centrosome); this ability of the model was tested by simulation of some mechanical tests of isolated cells, in particular tension test with micropipettes, indentation test and magnetic tweezer test. Although material properties of compo-nents have been defined as realistic as possible on the base of the mechanical tests with vascular smooth muscle cells, they were not identified in fact and are not unique probably. However, simulations of the tests have shown the ability of the model to simulate the global load-deformation response of the cell under various types of loadings, as well as several substan-tial global features of the cell behaviour, e.g. "at a distance effect", non-linear stiffening with increasing load, or linear dependence of stiffness on increasing prestrain.

The contribution presents the results of experimental studies usable in clinical orthopedics which were carried out at the Institute of Mechanics of Solids, Mechatronics and Biomechanics at Brno University of Technology, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. Following experimental studies in particular: determination of mechanical properties of Kessler's tendon sutura, influence of Socon screws augmentation on its limit load, behavior of spinal segment with both normal and defective spinal disc (TSLP fixator), structural problems of sublaminar wires and pedicular hooks in Luque and Galvestone surgery protocols, determination of mechanical properties of macromolecular polyethylene used in computational modelling of knee endoprosthesis.
