Aims of the course unit:
The aim is to clarify the basic position of law in civil aviation, to familiarize students with the nature and content of international conventions and international organizations of which the Czech Republic is a member of the essence of legislative regulation of civil aviation in the Czech Republic and the basic structural and operational rules, explain the principles of the exercise of state administration in the field of civil aviation.
Learning outcomes and competences:
Students learn the basics of Czech and international law in civil aviation.
Prerequisites:
Special knowledge and skills for the course are not required.
Course contents:
The course is concerned with the following topics: The development of Aerospace Law. Basic principles, juridical regime of free space. International pacts and civil aviation organisation. Juridical status of aircraft, crew, airport and aviation business firm. Responsibility for air incidents and damages. Government administration in civil aviation. Cosmic law.
Teaching methods and criteria:
The course is taught through lectures explaining the basic principles and theory of the discipline.
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes:
Course-unit credit requirements: participation in the course (80% at the minimum) and passing a written exam.
Controlled participation in lessons:
Lectures and exercises are compulsory, and the attendance (80% at the minimum) is controlled and recorded. The absence (in justifiable cases) can be compensated by personal consultation with the lecturer and elaboration of individually assigned topics and exercises. Individual tasks must be finished and handed in the credit week at the latest.

    Lecture 1. Introduction to civil law.
2. Juridical regime of free space, historical development.
3. International organization in civil aviation - ECAC, EUROCONTROL, JAA, IATA, SITA, IFALPA.
4. International agreements in civil aviation – ICAO, Geneva Convention, Warsaw Pact.
5. International agreements in civil aviation – Montreal Convention, Rome Convention, UNIDROIT.
6. Battle against illegal acts in aviation.
7. Basic rules in civil aviation I (L1, L6, L7, L9).
8. Basic rules in civil aviation II (L12, L13, L16, L17)
9. Civil aviation law.
10. The Aircraft Register, Aircraft Airworthiness.
11. Competence of the Air Personnel, Airports, Usage of Airspace.
12. Business in civil aviation. Public service in civil aviation.
13. EU Legal and Business Conditions of Air Transport.
