Aims of the course unit: | ||||
The aim is to enhance students’ knowledge of drawing. Practical exercises emphasize building-up the mass in the surface and proportion of objects. The subject leads to practicing correct perspective principles of simple elements of different shapes and their positions including shading. | ||||
Learning outcomes and competences: | ||||
Improving technique of drawing by practising drawing of objects with shapes similar to basic geometric bodies. Knowledge of principles of perspective projection, capturing the correct proportions and simple shading. |

Prerequisites: | ||||
Elementary knowledge of the perspective drawing / frontal and corner perspective, bird’s eye view, bottom view/ is assumed as well as the experience with the drawing of basic geometry elements and perspective view using a model. | ||||
Course contents: | ||||
This course is concerned with drawing the still-life composed of basic geometrical objects with a uniform surface in a perspective view. Geometric objects form the backbone of most displayed units and their proper reflection is necessary to master correct proportions and perspective rules in drawing. The course is a preparation for industrial design workshops. | ||||

Graded course-unit credit requirements: Attendance at exercises, meeting assigned projects deadlines. Resulting evaluation consists of evaluations on tasks (drawings). In total it will be possible to aquire 100 points. Resulting classification will be defined by the ECTS scale. If some of the projects are awarded less than half of the maximum pts., final evaluation of the course is F "failed". According to the article No. 13 of Study and Examination Rules of Brno University of Technology ECTS evaluation degree scale is used. . If some of the projects are awarded less than 50 pts., final evaluation of the course is "failed". The course is evaluated with the following grades: ECTS EVALUATION DEGREES / PTS. RATING / NUMERIC RATING: A / 100 - 90 / 1 / Excellent; B /89 - 80 / 1,5 / Very good; C / 79 - 70 / 2 / Good; D / 69 - 60 / Satisfactory; E / 59 - 50 / Sufficient; F / 49 - 0 / 4 / Failed. |

Controlled participation in lessons: | ||||
Compulsory attendance at seminars. Education runs according to the week schedule. The way of compensation of missed seminars is specified by the tutor. | ||||

Contour drawing, basic geometry objects by the model 1, rules for their building; 3. Contour drawing, complicated geometry objects, linear drawing, by the model; 4. Contour drawing, combination of different kinds of geometry objects, accent perspective view, by the model; 5. The light and shadows /own and composed/, linear drawing, by the model 4; 6. Drawing with shadows, by the model; 7. Drawing of the still-life composed of basic geometry objects with uniform surface by the model; 8. Drawing of the still-life composed of complicated geometry objects with uniform surface by the model; 9.
