Aims of the course unit: | ||||
The course is an advanced mastering Autodesk 3DS Max and basics in Adobe After Effects sufficient to create simple animations. Students will be able to create photorealistic visualization of own designs, edit and create texture for mapping, present their 3D models by realistic animation. The aim of the last third of the course is to learn the basics of film post-production and become familiar with the tools for editing animation aimed at the design project presentation in Adobe After Effects. |

Learning outcomes and competences: | ||||
The course „Computer Visualization and animation - 3DS Max, After Effect“ concures to preview courses and intensify knowledge at the domain of 2D and 3D graphics. Course is focused on realistic visualization and animations student designs. Student is able to create a multimedial presentation and visualization of his/her own 3d project. | ||||
Prerequisites: | ||||
The course complements the bachelor study courses „Computer Graphics - Photoshop“, "Computer Modelling - Rhinoceros 3D" and "Computer Modelling – 3ds Max". The elements of work and knowledge of working with the Rhinoceros 3D, Autodesk 3ds Max, Adobe Photoshop software are supposed. | ||||
Course contents: | ||||
In the course "Computer Visualization and animation – 3ds Max, After Effects" are deepened knowledge gained from previous studies. Students will become familiar with the environment of Autodesk 3DS Max. Within semester projects will address the creation visualization, and animation of own design. The course is taught in English. The course has been created with the support of the OPVK project. "The Studio digital sculpture and new media project", reg. No. CZ.1.07/2.2.00/28.0278, is co-financed by the European Social Fund and the state budget of the Czech Republic. |

Teaching methods and criteria: | ||||
The course is taught through exercises which are focused on practical topics presented in lectures. | ||||
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes: | ||||
Graded course-unit credit requirements: attendance in lessons, meeting assigned projects deadlines, practical test verifying the knowledge of work with the software and creative work ability. Resulting evaluation consists of evaluations on projects, tasks and a test. In total it will be possible to aquire 100 points. Resulting classification will be defined by the ECTS scale. If some of the projects as well as a test are awarded less than half of the maximum pts., final evaluation of the course is "failed". According to the article No. 13 of Study and Examination Rules of Brno University of Technology ECTS evaluation degree scale is used. . If some of the projects are awarded less than 50 pts., final evaluation of the course is "failed". The course is evaluated with the following grades: ECTS EVALUATION DEGREES / PTS. RATING / NUMERIC RATING: A / 100 - 90 / 1 / Excellent; B /89 - 80 / 1,5 / Very good; C / 79 - 70 / 2 / Good; D / 69 - 60 / Satisfactory; E / 59 - 50 / Sufficient; F / 49 - 0 / 4 / Failed. |

Controlled participation in lessons: | ||||
Compulsory attendance at seminars. Education runs according to the week schedule. The way of compensation of missed seminars is specified by the tutor. | ||||

Computer-assisted exercise | 1. Autodesk 3ds Max - summary of knowledge, acquaintance with problems of rendering 2. Autodesk 3ds Max - setting up the scene, get familiar with different types of lights and lighting models 3. Autodesk 3ds Max – principle of creating and working with materials, material editor, texture 4. Autodesk 3ds Max - introduction to texturing, different types of textures and their creation 5. Autodesk 3ds Max - expanding knowledge of materials, special types, effects and their use in production 6. Autodesk 3ds Max - introduction to mapping, UVW map modifier 7. Autodesk 3ds Max - advanced mapping, different techniques, mapping using Unwrap UVW 8. Autodesk 3ds Max - rendering, render settings, parameters of renderer and their influence on speed 9. Autodesk 3ds Max - advanced render effects, exposure, depth of field, motion blur, and more 10. Autodesk 3ds Max - animation, basic concepts and principles, creating simple animation 11. Adobe After Effects - introduction to the environment of program, philosophy of work, the layout of the main tools, files and integration with 3ds Max 12. Adobe After Effects - Rendered animation processing, use basic tools, effects, color correction, masks 13. Adobe After Effects - completing the project, final production editing and animation export |
