Aims of the course unit: | ||||
The aim of the seminar is to familiarize students with the requirements of the final state exam and preparation of the diploma thesis and its presentation to the committee. | ||||
Learning outcomes and competences: | ||||
Students will gain experience in presenting results of diploma thesis. It may then be used by students when presenting their diploma theses (during the State Exam) or results at scientific conferences. | ||||
Prerequisites: | ||||
Certain knowledge gained during study of master study programme supplemented by the literature study related to specific topic of diploma thesis. | ||||
Course contents: | ||||
Students are familiarized with the course of the final state exam, with requirements to demonstrate knowledge and with the principles and guidelines for the preparation and defense of a thesis. During the seminar, all students presents actual achieved results on their diploma projects. Immediately after the prezentation follows a critical discussion of the presented results with the audience, supervisor and other teachers. | ||||
Teaching methods and criteria: | ||||
The course is taught through exercises which are focused on practical topics presented in lectures. | ||||
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes: | ||||
Course-unit credit is awarded on the following conditions: active participation in the seminars. Presentation and submission of diploma thesis. | ||||
Controlled participation in lessons: | ||||
Attendance at practicals is obligatory and checked by the lecturer. Potential absence has to be excused. In case of longer absence, compensation of missed lessons depends on the instructions of course supervisor. | ||||

Exercise | 1. The state exam, areas of questions, principles of presentation of diploma thesis 2. Principles for writing of diploma thesis 3. Fundamentals of rhetoric, personal appearance 4. Formal and graphic layout of the thesis, the formulation of the results, drawing documentation. 5. - 13. Presentation of partial results of the thesis by students. Discussion of performed presentations and results, answers to questions of the supervisor and other teachers. |
