Aims of the course unit:
The course objective is to analyse the assignment of the bachelor project, the theoretical bases and to learn how to make documentation, analysis and evaluation of the design.
Learning outcomes and competences:
The analysis of design assignment, scientific assortment and making the supporting documentation of a design project, evaluation and analysis of the design, including graphic and typographic lay-out.
Prerequisites:
Basics of design theory, ergonomics, lay-out of printed matters, etc.
Course contents:
Students work out analyses on a given theme of a bachelor project, sort out and assess information material, define current trend of the product and its development in the coming 5–10 years. Students work out developmental, technical and design analyses of the topic and work with professional literature.
Teaching methods and criteria:
The course is taught through exercises which are focused on practical topics presented in lectures. Teaching is suplemented by practical laboratory work.
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes:
Graded course-unit credit requirements: attendance in lessons, meeting assigned projects deadlines.
Resulting evaluation consists of evaluations on projects. In total it will be possible to aquire 100 points. Resulting classification will be defined by the ECTS scale.
If some of the projects are awarded less than half of the maximum pts., final evaluation of the course is "failed".
According to the article No. 13 of Study and Examination Rules of Brno University of Technology ECTS evaluation degree scale is used. . If some of the projects are awarded less than 50 pts., final evaluation of the course is "failed". The course is evaluated with the following grades: ECTS EVALUATION DEGREES / PTS. RATING / NUMERIC RATING: A / 100 - 90 / 1 / Excellent; B /89 - 80 / 1,5 / Very good; C / 79 - 70 / 2 / Good; D / 69 - 60 / Satisfactory; E / 59 - 50 / Sufficient; F / 49 - 0 / 4 / Failed.
Controlled participation in lessons:
The attendance in workshop is controlled. Students have to be present in scheduled hours in the workshop, work on assigned projects and wait for consultation, unless a lecturer gives other individual plan. Students are obliged to inform the lecturer in advance about his/her working-place in the scheduled education time (studio, workshops, modelling room) - as absence is not excused without this information. The excuse of absence is possible only due serious reasons such as illness. Unexcused absence may jeopardise accepting a work.
