Applied Theory of Machining (FSI-HAO)

Academic year 2020/2021
Supervisor: doc. Ing. Josef Sedlák, Ph.D.
Supervising institute: ÚST all courses guaranted by this institute
Teaching language: Czech
Aims of the course unit:
The aim of the course is to familiarise students with theoretical relations of the machining processes and the parameters of a machined surface concentrating on the finishing accurate machining methods.
Learning outcomes and competences:
Students will be acquainted with the theoretical basis of the machining process and its use in real machining methods focused on finishing of highly precise surfaces.
Prerequisites:
Students are expected to be familiar with the theoretical basis of cutting, tool materials, the aspect of the elastic and plastic deformation of materials.
Course contents:
The course is focused on the theoretical foundations of a machining process and the impact they have on defects of a machined surface. It proceeds from the physics of the machining process and from the interaction of a cutter and workpiece. The attention is paid to finishing methods of machining and connected interpretation of parameters of the machined surface.
Teaching methods and criteria:
The course is taught through lectures explaining the basic principles and theory of the discipline. Teaching is suplemented by practical laboratory work.
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes:
Course unit credit requirements:
-participation in the exercises,
-delivery of assigned papers.
The exam will be written and oral and the resulting classification will be in accordance with Article 12 and 13 of the current BUT Study and Examination Regulations.
It is classificated to the ECTS grading scale.
Controlled participation in lessons:
Missed lessons will be compensated in alternative exercises by arrangement with the teacher.
Attendance in lectures is recommended.
Attendance in exercises is compulsory.
The attendance to the seminar is regularly checked and the participation in the lesson is recorded.
