| Supervisor: | prof. Ing. Milan Horáček, CSc. | |||
| Supervising institute: | ÚST | |||
| Teaching language: | Czech | |||
| Aims of the course unit: | ||||
| The main goal of the course is to provide students with knowledge of broad possibilities of casting manufacture with respect to the chosen mould and core technology,and pouring system. |
||||
| Learning outcomes and competences: | ||||
| Knowledge of non-conventional foundry technologies i.e.investment casting and lost foam technologies. |
||||
| Prerequisites: | ||||
| Basic knowledge of conventional methods of casting manufacture and foundry alloys and their properties. |
||||
| Course contents: | ||||
| Basic survey of mould and core technologies, different possibilities of pouring liquid metal into a mould cavity. The course provides students with basic knowledge of the individual phases of the casting processes and also gives a chance of comparing different manufacturing methods used. This course is focused primarily to the less "conventional" technologies such as investment casting, lost foam process, vaccuum moulding etc. |
||||
| Teaching methods and criteria: | ||||
| The course is taught through lectures explaining the basic principles and theory of the discipline. Teaching is suplemented by practical laboratory work. | ||||
| Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes: | ||||
| Attendance in lectures is recommended, attendance in exercises is obligatory. Credit for exercises: semestr project - obligatory Examination : written and oral exam. |
||||
| Controlled participation in lessons: | ||||
| Attendance at lessons is obligatory. Absence may be compensated for by the agreement with the lecturer. | ||||
| Type of course unit: | ||||
| Lecture | 13 × 3 hrs. | optionally | ||
| Laboratory exercise | 13 × 2 hrs. | compulsory | ||
| Course curriculum: | ||||
| Lecture | 1.Ceramic moulds using solid pattern-squeeze method 2. - " - - Shaw method 3.Ceramic moulds using wax pattern (investment casting)-wax pattern phase 4. - " - -shelling+pouring phase 5.Accuracy and perspectives of investment casting technology 6.Lost foam process 7.3rd generation of moulds and cores manufacture 8.Vacuum process 9.High pressure casting technology 10.Low-pressure and centrifugal casting technology 11.Special casting technologies (thixo-,rheo-,squeeze-,etc.) 12.Unidirectional crystallization - monocrystal technologies 13.Optimal choice of technology - material of casting,shape of product,batch size |
