Academic year 2020/2021 |
Supervisor: | prof. Ing. Zdeněk Jegla, Ph.D.
Supervising institute: | ÚPI
Teaching language: | English
Aims of the course unit:
The course aims to teach students effective 3D modelling. The teaching in this course is focused on SolidWorks software, which helps students gain the knowledge of a wide range of functions used during 3D modelling. In addition to mastering this program, students will also gain a foundation to work with any 3D modeller these days often used by engineers, designers as well as for 3D printing. Thanks to this knowledge, their price on the labour market will increase and they will have a better chance of subsequent employment.
Learning outcomes and competences:
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will manage the software at the CSWA certification level (Certified SOLIDWORKS Associate). The knowledge to create basic and advanced 3D models, assemblies, as well as drawings, will be perfected. The knowledge will be extended by the ability to create visualizations, animations, shell models (used in FEM calculations) and last but not least, sheet metal parts.
Prerequisites: | ||||
Basic knowledge of PC and technical drawings.
Course contents: | ||||
This subject focuses on 3D modelling by using SolidWorks software. In today’s market with the need to produce products faster, with the higher, more predictable quality it is common to use 3D modelling. Engineers are primarily concerned with designing products and systems that function correctly, and safe. The basic knowledge of 3D modelling is also necessary for the creation of computational models in the following teaching classes which focuses on numerical simulations. The importance of 3D modelling rises also with higher demand for 3D printed parts as well as visualisation and presentation of created products. |
||||
Teaching methods and criteria:
The course is tutored by means of seminars, with emphasis on practical handling of the topics.
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes:
Graded course-unit credit is awarded on condition of having attended the seminars actively, passed partial tasks and passed a final test.
Controlled participation in lessons:
Attendance at seminars will be checked and absence will be solved by self-study of a given topic or by assignment.
Type of course unit: | ||||
