English - Basic Exam (FSI-5AZ)

Aims of the course unit:
The aim of the examination is to prove student's knowledge, skills and vocabulary. He/she is expected to use the language as an independent user.
Learning outcomes and competences:
Can understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in everyday communication, in work, school, and in areas where the language is spoken. Can interact in most situations which are familiar or of personal interest. Can describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes and ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans. The scope corresponds to the level* and the content of the courses A3/A4:
* intermediate level (applies to students of 1st year of study in 2019/2020 or later)
* pre-intermediate level (applies to students who completed the courses A3/A4 in 2018/2019 or earlier).
Prerequisites:
Knowledge of grammar and general vocabulary corresponding to the courses A3/A4 (see the courses documentation) is regarded as a minimum to pass the exam.

Course contents:
The exam tests the knowledge, general vocabulary and skills acquired in previous study. It consists of a written a an oral part.
Teaching methods and criteria:
Separately registered exam folowing previous language lessons.
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes:
The exam has a written and an oral part. The written part focuses on grammar and vocabulary. The oral part tests fluency, pronunciation and ability to use vocabulary and grammar covered in the compulsory literature. In both parts, students are required to collect at least 50% of the points.
