Aims of the course unit:
The aim of the course is to familiarise students with the methodology of the technological planning of the production of engineering components, designing of the production procedure and analysis of respective relations in the technology of the engineering components production.
The aim is for students to master the rules for design of forming tools for various technologies including checking calculation and design of material
Learning outcomes and competences:
The ability to analyse forming process, adaptability for given conditions of technological preparation of production of forming parts in practice. Students will acquire knowledge of the tool design as well as skills necessary for proposing a concept of a tool for various forming technologies including application of design parameters
Prerequisites:
Knowledge of forming technology. Knowledge of engineering drawing, rules for fitting, types of materials used for tools. Knowledge of stress analysis and technological steps.
Course contents:
Technological preparation of production as an integral component of the technological process of forming. The course deals with the following topics: Types of forming tools - simple tools, follow-tools, combined tools, compound tools. Also dealtwith is design of tools for cutting, punching, blanking, bending, deep drawing, extrusion, forging. The course focuses also on design of tool elements including technological and design computations, materials for tools.
Teaching methods and criteria:
The course is taught through lectures explaining the basic principles and theory of the discipline. Teaching is suplemented by practical laboratory work.
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes:
Course unit credit requirements:
-participation in the exercises,
-delivery of assigned papers.
The exam will be written and oral.


Controlled participation in lessons:
Attendance in lectures is recommended.
Attendance in exercises is compulsory.
Missed lessons will be compensated in alternative exercises by arrangement with the teacher.

    Lecture - Technological procedure of the production of semi-products and products by steel-metal stamping.
- Technological procedure of the production of components by metal-sheet stamping.

- Forgings production by hammer forging and stamping.
- Technological procedure of heat treatment.
- Kinds of forming tools, steps of their design.
- Tools for cutting and punching - parameters.
- Tools for bending and deep drawing.
- Tools for direct and back extrusion.
- Tools for hot forming - dies for hammers and presses.
- Tools for forging on horizontal forging presses.
- Tools for cutting of forging pieces
- Tools materials.
    Laboratory exercise - Technological processing in bending.
- Technological processing in deep drawing.
- Technological processing in extrusion.
- Technological processing in die forgings.
- Design of tool for bending, deep drawing according to the given component.
- Design of die for forging - hammer or forging press.
