Aims of the course unit: | ||||
The aim of the course is to equip students for real-life tasks and everyda communication. It is intended to consolidate the knowledge obtained at secondary school and practice all four language skills. | ||||
Learning outcomes and competences: | ||||
Students will consolidate general vocabulary and grammar structures for everyday communication at the intermediate level (B1). | ||||
Prerequisites: | ||||
Course is intended for students who are familiar with the language at the pre-intermediate level as a minimum. They are expected to have the knowledge and skills corresponding to A2 level. | ||||

Course contents: | ||||
The course is intended to teach general English as a foreign language at B1 level. It is focused on practical, everyday communication and revising previous knowledge. | ||||
Teaching methods and criteria: | ||||
Language instruction as an extension of basic professional curriculum. | ||||
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes: | ||||
To pass this course it is necessary, apart from active participation in the class and individual home preparation, to pass the credit test (at least 60%) focused on testing grammar and vocabulary. There is a possibility for the student to resit the test. | ||||
Controlled participation in lessons: | ||||
Attendance at seminars is compulsory and is systematically checked by the teacher. Students are allowed to miss two language seminars and one seminar of computer assisted language learning. In well-founded cases, extra absences can be made up for after consulting the situation with the teacher. | ||||

U3: Future - plans and predictions. Future time markers, idioms. 8. U3: Discuss plans and arrangements. 9. U3: Dealing with misunderstandings. 10. U4: Jobs. Must/have to/should (obligation), used to, would. 11: U4: Personal qualities, adjectives, business. 12: U4: Participate in a meeting. 13. Credit test. |
