Application of CAD/CAM in Machining Technology II (FSI-FAC-K)

Academic year 2021/2022
Supervisor: Ing. Martin Slaný, Ph.D.
Supervising institute: ÚST all courses guaranted by this institute
Teaching language: Czech
Aims of the course unit:
The purpose is to provide more detailed knowledge of cutting processes as well as computer-aided machining of engineering production. Another goal is to provide a basis for optimal and qualified decision-making with respect to use of various tehnologies applied for working of engineering materials.
Learning outcomes and competences:
Students will have an overview of engineering technology, computer technology systems and their classification. They will master the techniques and will acquire the knowledge related to the use of computer technology in the field of engineering production. The course will teach them how to create the models of technological processes and will help of computer technology and will familiarise them with the methodology of work with CAM systems.
Prerequisites:
CAD systems, basics of technological processes - machining.
Course contents:
The course is intended to widen and deepen the knowledge of design and manufacturing technology - machining focused on the material, logistic and automation aspects of processes which take place during the interaction of the cutting tool - workpiece - machine tool. Emphasis is placed on the optimization of technological processes when using computer technology.
Also dealt with are the problems of semi-product selection, order of processes, machine tool selection, cutting tool selection and assessment of cutting conditions including automatic NC programming and CNC application.
Teaching methods and criteria:
The course is taught through lectures explaining the basic principles and theory of the discipline. Exercises are focused on practical topics presented in lectures.
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes:
Attendance in the exercises is compulsory and checked. It is allowed a maximum of two absences per semester. The course-unit credit is awarded according to attendance and submission of individual assignments in the exercises. Attendance in lectures is recommended.
The exam tests student's knowledge of computer technology and its application to the construction modelling used in machining technology. The practical part of the exam reflects student's ability to create a model in CAM systems.
Controlled participation in lessons:
Individual assignments and result checking.
