Aims of the course unit:
The aim of the course is to acquire a view of possibilities, applications and benefits of numerical simulation of foundry processes.
Learning outcomes and competences:
The students will acquire practical experience about principles of cast design and technology optimizing with using of numerical simulation. The students will acquire knowledge about models for porosity and hot tears prediction and also particular definitions of foundry processes are described.
Prerequisites: | ||||
The knowledge of Foundry technology, knowledge of liquid flows and heat transfer, basic computer skills
Course contents: | ||||
The course provides students with new trends in computer support of foundry technology. An accent is given on numerical simulation of foundry processes and practical applications. Course deal with: 3D casting design, definition of boundary and initial conditions, defect prediction, thermo-mechanical calculations. The students will acquire last trends in a field of micro-modelling, single crystal modelling and inverse modelling. |
