Supervisor: | Ing. Marian Sigmund, Ph.D., IWE
Supervising institute: | ÚST
Teaching language: | Czech
Aims of the course unit:
The main objective of the course is to provide students with the theoretical foundations and methodology necessary for solving technologies of problems relating to the application of special welding technologies. Students will acquire knowledge necessary for a complex solution of special welding technology application.
Learning outcomes and competences:
Students will acquire knowledge of unconventional types of modern welding technologies, and will be able to apply these technologies to particular examples of special welding. They will be able to independently and creatively work on a welding procedure.
Prerequisites: | ||||
Students are expected to be familiar with the fundamentals of fusion and pressure welding technology, as well as with science of materials.
Course contents: | ||||
The special methods of fusion welding. The course deals with the technology of welding by high-power sources such as plasma, electron-beam and laser applications. It familiarises students with technological methods of thermal spraying and their industrial application. Special welding methods, stud welding. The special methods of pressure welding. Friction welding, explosion welding and diffusion welding. Metal 3D printing methods. Soldering of metals.
Teaching methods and criteria:
The course is taught through lectures explaining the basic principles and theory of the discipline. Teaching is suplemented by practical laboratory work.
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes:
Course-unit credit is awarded on condition of having delivered written reports from exercises, and worked out the assigned reports during the semester. Examination: the exam has a written and an oral part and tests student´s knowledge acquired in the lectures and exercises.
Controlled participation in lessons:
Attendance at exercises is compulsory. Absence may be compensated for by the agreement with the teacher who can set a special programme to be worked out.
