(FSI-K-FYZ)

Academic year 2023/2024
Supervisor: Ing. Stanislav Voborný, Ph.D.
Supervising institute: ÚFI all courses guaranted by this institute
Teaching language: Czech
Aims of the course unit:

The aim of the preparation course is the repetition of the high school curriculum to the extent necessary to pass the entrance examination in physics at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of Brno University of Technology. The emphasis is on practicing physics knowledge with examples. Test questions and examples used in previous years for the entrance examination will also be discussed and explained.

Learning outcomes and competences:

The learning of the subject results in the repetition of the physics curriculum from high school, successful completion of the final test and thus admission to study at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the BUT.

Prerequisites:

A high school graduate or final year student

Course contents:

Course curriculum:

1. Description of the motion of a point mass
2. Motion in a circular orbit and rotation of bodies
3. Force and momentum
4. Work, energy and power in mechanics
5. Gravitational field, centre of gravity
6. Vibrations and waves, optics
7. Fluid mechanics
8. Heat and temperature
9. Electrostatics
10. Electric currents and magnetism
11. Alternating currents
12. Atomic physics
13. Conclusion and written test for the entrance examination

Teaching methods and criteria:

Lectures, trial testing during the course, consultation

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes:

At the end of the course (13th week) there will be a written test, the level of which is the same as the admission test to FSI BUT in Brno. In the case of successful completion of the final test (in physics or mathematics), the entrance exam will be waived according to the guidelines for admission to FSI. Successful completion of the final test means achieving at least 50% of points in this test. In the event of failure in the final written tests, the applicant will be allowed to take the FSI entrance examination at the regular time.
