Academic year 2023/2024
Supervisor: doc. Ing. Marek Baláš, Ph.D.
Supervising institute: all courses guaranted by this institute
Teaching language: Czech
Aims of the course unit:

The aim of the course is to prepare students for practice, where, in addition to technical problems, they will also deal with the economic side of running a company and projects. Another goal is to prepare students for leadership and management roles and positions in their future profession.

Learning outcomes and competences:

Students can apply the acquired competences in solving operational issues of the company, managing projects and work teams.

Prerequisites:

none

Course contents:

The course focuses on non-technical areas that graduates, not only in the energy field, will encounter during their internships. In the course, they will be introduced to the organisation of companies and enterprises, the systems and laws of organisation and, last but not least, they will receive the basic education to cope with teamwork and management positions in which they will quite often find themselves. The second part of the course is a basic insight into economics, which will very briefly highlight the areas that are essential for companies to stay in business. These are mainly in the areas of corporate finance, financial instruments and accounting. The course does not aim to provide a complete training in management and economics (often entire study programmes are not sufficient for this), but rather to be an introduction and signpost for future training.

Teaching methods and criteria:

The course is taught in the form of seminars, where not only the basic principles of the field will be explained, but also students will be involved, who will solve model situations and contribute to the knowledge with their reports.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes:

The evaluation of the course is based on the active participation of students in the class.
