Progressive Surface Treatment Technologies (FSI-9PTU)

Academic year 2023/2024
Supervisor: doc. RNDr. Libor Mrňa, Ph.D.
Supervising institute: ÚST all courses guaranted by this institute
Teaching language: Czech or English
Aims of the course unit:

The objective of the course is to provide students with the necessary knowledge and information from the field of modern surface treatments.

Learning outcomes and competences:

Students will learn about various types of progressive surface treatments. They will be able to apply these technologies to the production of machine parts and steel structures. They will be able to apply these technologies in manufacturing practice.

Prerequisites:
Students are expected to have the following knowledge and skills when they begin the course: science of materials, physics and chemistry.
Course contents:

Special technique.Thermal spraying: theoretical principles and methods, arc, flame, plasma, high velocity methods (HVOF), consumables - metals, ceramics and cermets.
Surface treatment: oxidation methods (eloxal process), electroplating Cu, Cr, Ni, Zn, etc., chemical layers, PVD,CVD and organic coatings.

Teaching methods and criteria:
The course is taught through lectures explaining the basic principles and theory of the discipline.
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes:
The final exam will be composed of written and oral part. It is classificated to the ECTS grading scale.
Controlled participation in lessons:
Consultations are mandatory.
Type of course unit:
