Supervisor: | Ing. Miroslav Šplíchal, Ph.D.
Supervising institute: | LÚ
Teaching language: | English
Aims of the course unit:
Students will be acquainted with the whole spectrum of nowadays CNS radionavigation aids being in use of commercial air carriers. They will be familiarized with relevant current and future CNS technologies used for ATC/ATM. CNS/ATM mutual relationship will be stressed. Future development trends will be mentioned in the necessary extend. |
||||
Learning outcomes and competences:
The subject will allow students to get acquainted with the CNS/ATM technologies as well as with main procedures used in civil air traffic. Students will comprehend the relationship between both an aircraft and ATS and get the common philosophy of automated CNS/ATM systems as well. |
||||
Prerequisites: | ||||
High school level knowledge of mathematics and physics is demanded. |
||||
Course contents: | ||||
The course incorporates communication, navigation and surveillance (CNS) principles and CNS equipment/aids. Relevant themes include: explanation of radio waves used for civilian air operations; technologies of navigation at short and long distances; precise air control systems of approach and landing; principles of primary and secondary radiolocation, global navigation satellite systems; ADS/ADS-B system. Passive surveillance systems (MLAT). |
||||
Teaching methods and criteria:
The course is taught through lectures explaining the basic principles and theory of the discipline. Exercises are focused on practical topics presented in lectures. |
||||
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes:
Conditions for obtaining the course-unit credit: 80% participation at the lectures and excercises and the minimum 50% evaluation of the final written test at least. Succesful result of the course-unit credit test is the basic condition to attend the oral examination. Classification of the exam is predetermined by the BUT university requirements. |
||||
Controlled participation in lessons:
Lectures (min. 80% attendance required) and exercises (100% attendance required) are realized by means of audio-visual method and therefore student´s presence is necessary. |
