Design Project Realization (FSI-YE3)

Academic year 2024/2025
Supervisor: doc. akad. soch. Ladislav Křenek, ArtD.
Supervising institute: ÚK all courses guaranted by this institute
Teaching language: Czech
Aims of the course unit:

The course guides students to a comprehensive design solution. Upon completion of the course, students will be able to create an original, complete design proposal that meets all requirements for functionality and manufacturability. Graduates will be able to use the acquired knowledge for the comprehensive implementation of various projects.

Learning outcomes and competencies:
Ability to perform independent design work in solving medium and complex tasks.
Ability to identify significant problems and apply acquired knowledge.
Ability to design a comprehensive solution including aesthetic, ergonomic, technical and technological aspects of design.
Ability to design solutions that reflect the reality and practice of our company.
Ability to implement a complete design model to an appropriate scale.

Learning outcomes and competences:

Prerequisites:

Knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of spatial creation, artistic composition, and implementation of three-dimensional models.
Knowledge of sketching techniques and design experience in industrial design.
Understanding of functional, technical and technological aspects of the subject.
Acquire complex design solutions for more complex industrial products.
Knowledge of modeling software (e.g. Rhinoceros, 3ds Max) and graphics software (e.g. Adobe package).

Links to other subjects:
compulsory prerequisite: Design Project Development [YE2]

Course contents:

This course focuses on the application of the knowledge acquired in the previous course (Project Design Development). During the course, emphasis is placed on a comprehensive solution to the problem, from the concept itself, through the selection of materials and manufacturing technologies, to the final design. The condition of the final design is its practicability and manufacturability using current technologies. The result of the order is a drawing documentation, a presentation and a presentation model of the proposed solution in an appropriate scale.

Teaching methods and criteria:

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes:

Conditions for receiving credit:
Active participation in the exercises.
Submission of a fully developed project in digital form (poster, presentation, visualization) and physical form (poster, presentation model) by the deadline.
Conditions for obtaining the exam:
Successful defense of the project solution, in which the design and the level of presentation of the achieved results will be evaluated.
The resulting classification is determined according to the ECTS scale. In total, up to 100 points can be obtained.

Specification of controlled education, method of implementation and compensation for absences: Attendance is compulsory and controlled by the teacher, with a maximum of two excused absences per semester. In the case of long absences, compensation for missed classes is the responsibility of the subject guarantor.
