Conditions for granting the credit:
- active participation in exercises (min. 15 out of 30 points),
- preparation of literature research (min. 20 out of 40 points),
- research discussion linked to discussion (min. 15 out of 30 points).

Lectures: attendance is mandatory and controlled by the teacher.
Exercises: participation is mandatory and controlled by the teacher.
Maximum of two absences are allowed in total. In case of long-term absence, compensation for missed classes is in the competence of the course guarantor.

Course curriculum:
    Lecture - The relationship between science, engineering, research and experimental development.
- The essence of scientific and engineering methods.
- The aim of the diploma thesis and the role of the supervisor and the student in its elaboration.
- Research and development project.
    Exercise - Formulation of the topic, research problem (customer needs and opportunities) and basic terminology.
- Current state of problem solving.
- The aim of the work. Research question and hypothesis (product requirements).
- Process and methods of solution (conceptual design).
- Schedule.
- Expected results and their use.
    Computer-assisted exercise - Information and electronic information sources.
