Aims of the course unit:

Graduates will be able to design the layout, operation, artistic, technical and functional solution of a specific interior including furnishing elements using 3D modelling tools and virtual tools.

The student acquires:

  • An orientation in the field of interior design in a broader context.
  • Knowledge of the functional, operational and spatial aspects of interiors.
  • The ability to address space from a layout, operational, artistic, technical and functional perspective.
  • Ability to select and optimise standard elements or design atypical furnishing elements.
  • Ability to adapt interior design to the specific needs of disabled users.

Prerequisites:

Knowledge of drawing, construction and computer modelling. 

Course contents:

Attention is paid to the design of the residential and public interior, including its furnishing elements. Connections to the concept of the building are observed and the needs of the users are defined. The course is mainly about learning and practicing the effective use of principles applied in interior design. Emphasis is placed on collision-free operation, optimal zoning and functionality of space. Students will learn tools for creating 3D interior designs for apartments, houses, public areas, commercial spaces and expositions.

Conditions for obtaining classified credit:

  • active participation in the exercises (min 5 out of 10 points),
  • submission of the assignments by the deadlines (min 45 out of 90 points).

The final classification is determined according to the ECTS scale.

Exercises: attendance is compulsory and supervised by the lecturer; a maximum of two absences is allowed. In the event of prolonged absence, the course tutor is responsible for making up missed classes.

  • Design of colours, lighting and materials in the interior.

  • Respect for the specifics of disabled users.

  • Residential interior design / public interior design.

  • Design of exhibition space.

  • Media presentation of interior design.
