| Aims of the course unit: | ||||
Graduates are able, based on their theoretical knowledge of the phases of the design process, the dimensioning of machine components, and electronics, to design and construct a mechatronic system intended for transforming mechanical forces and achieving the required system functionality.

|   | ||||
| Prerequisites: | ||||
Knowledge of physics, mathematics, solid mechanics, machine design, experience with CAD systems, body modeling, and the basics of 3D printing. |
||||
| Course contents: | ||||
The first half of the course focuses on the design process of mechanical systems (e.g., cam-based feeding mechanisms, scissor lifts, or handling devices) starting from initial concepts and the creation of kinematic diagrams, through calculations and analyses, up to manufacturing, assembly, experimental testing, and system validation. Emphasis is placed on teamwork based on a systematic design methodology that applies engineering thinking and analytical approaches. In this course, students make use of knowledge gained in previous subjects such as computational modeling, machine design, materials, and mathematics. In the second half, students learn how to complement mechanical systems with sensors and actuators for their control and diagnostics. |
