Renewable Energy Sources (FSI-UOZ-A)

Academic year 2020/2021
Supervisor: doc. Ing. Jiří Pospíšil, Ph.D.
Supervising institute: all courses guaranted by this institute
Teaching language: English
Aims of the course unit:
The course provides students with overall knowledge of fossil and renewable energy sources used in the Czech Republic and in the world, including transformation to other types of the energy
Learning outcomes and competences:
The student will obtain knowledge the energy sources in the technical practice, their ecological, economic and energetic aspects.
Prerequisites:
Knowledge of hydrodynamics and thermomechanics
Course contents:
The course familiarises students with energy source and transformation: primary and secondary energy sources, renewable energy sources, fossil and nuclear fuel, energy consumption in the word and in the Czech Republic, thermal and nuclear power plants-energy transformation, biomass, solar and hydro power plants, wind energy and wind power plants, geothermal power plants, heat pumps for heating, hydrogen fuel cell.
Teaching methods and criteria:
The course is taught through lectures explaining the basic principles and theory of the discipline. Teaching is suplemented by practical laboratory work.
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes:
Credit requirements: participation in the exercises is systematically controlled self-activity.Examination: written preparation for the given questions followed by discussion
Controlled participation in lessons:
Participation in the exercises is systematically controlled
