Reverse Engineering and Surface Modeling (FSI-ZM2)

Academic year 2020/2021
Supervisor: doc. Ing. David Paloušek, Ph.D.
Supervising institute: ÚK all courses guaranted by this institute
Teaching language: Czech
Aims of the course unit:
To familiarize students with the posibilities of advanced 3D surface modelling focused on the automotive industry.
Learning outcomes and competences:
Students will obtain knowledge and experience with with modeling in CAD modeler CATIA and Alias. They will be able to create advanced advanced 3D surface models and receive a concrete idea about the use of A-class surfaces.
Prerequisites:
Fundamental knowledge in area of CAD systems, knowledge of parametric modeling (Catia).
Course contents:
Students become familiar with the possibilities of advanced surface modelling and 3D digital data for auto-motive industry. Terms like "strak" and "A-class "modeling will be clarifying and students will run through all steps of generating of final surface data. They will also discover the basic steps of the reverse engineering and transfer of digitized data into a CAD.
The course has been upgraded with the support of the OPVK project. Project "The Studio of digital sculpture and new media", reg. No. CZ.1.07/2.2.00/28.0278, is co-financed by the European Social Fund and the statebudget of the Czech Republic.
Teaching methods and criteria:
The course is taught through exercises, which are focused on practical topics.
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes:
Graded course-unit credit is awarded on the following conditions: active participation in the seminars, successful presentation the project and test.
Controlled participation in lessons:
Attendance at practicals is obligatory and checked by the lecturer. Maximum of two excused absences without compensation are allowed. In case of longer absence, compensation of missed lessons depends on the instructions of course supervisor.
