English 5 for Combined Type of Study (FSI-A5K)

Aims of the course unit:
The course is intended to teach English as a foreign language at general level. Also dealt with is ESP. It is focused on practical, everyday communication for the international workplace.
Learning outcomes and competences:
Students will be made familiar with general vocabulary for the workplace, as well as grammar structures for everyday communication at intermediate level.
Prerequisites:
Course is intended for students who are familiar with the language at pre-intermediate level. They are expected to have the knowledge and skills corresponding to the course A4K.
Course contents:
The course is intended to teach English as a foreign language at general level. Also dealt with is ESP. It is focused on practical, everyday communication for the international workplace.
Teaching methods and criteria:
The course is intended for the combined form of study, indivudual work of students is directed by lectures and exercises taught en bloc.
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes:
Course-unit credit is awarded on condition of having worked out assigned tasks and passed a credit test. Altogether it is required to get at least 30 points out of 50 in this test. In case this benchmark of 60% is not achieved, there is a possibility for the student to resit the test. Finally, students' work in the e-learning support of the course is also reflected in the overall course assessment.
Controlled participation in lessons:
Attendance at seminars is systematically checked by the teacher and is recommended to get the credit.

4. U5 - Alternative energy, Past Continuous vs. Past Simple
5. U6 - Aeronautics, First and Second Conditional
6. U7 - Future homes, modal verbs: must, have to, don't have to, etc.
7. Credit test
