Aims of the course unit:

The aim of the diploma thesis seminar is to acquaint students with the method of elaboration of the diploma thesis and with its presentation to the audience. Great emphasis is placed on the processing of documents for presentation,  to be unambiguous and understandable, last but not least, emphasis is placed on formal requirements.

Learning outcomes and competences:

The knowledge necessary for optimal factual and formal elaboration of a diploma thesis on a specific topic, including the presentation of the achieved results in a predefined time frame to the audience, are given to the student.

Prerequisites:

Knowledge in the scope of the Master degree study of the Institute of Automotive Engineering, speciality of Motor vehicles and combustion engines. Study of literature in accordance with the diploma thesis assignment.

Course contents:

The course "Diploma Thesis Seminar" is focused on the processing of diploma theses both in terms of technical and presentation. The course provides information on the process of processing the thesis, the suitability of used methods and the way of presenting the results.

Teaching methods and criteria:
The course is taught through exercises which are focused on practical topics presented in lectures.
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes:

The course evaluates active participation in seminars and the presentation of selected parts of the thesis in front of the audience, including answers to questions.

Controlled participation in lessons:
Attendance at seminars is obligatory, checked by a teacher. The way of compensation of absence is solved individually with a subject provider.

    Exercise  13 × 2 hrs. compulsory                  
Course curriculum:
    Exercise 1. - 2. General principles suitable for the elaboration of diploma thesis .
3. - 4. Content optimalization and time management of elaboration of diploma thesis.
5. - 6. Analysing of student's work from the wiev of the above mentioned rules.
7. - 8. Formal and graphic format of the diploma thesis, results formulation, drawing documentation.
9. - 13. Presentation of solved results. Oral speech and presentation with a data-projector. Answers to opponent's questions. Presentation of partial results of the diploma thesis.
