Aims of the course unit:

The goal of the seminar is to teach students about how to present mathematical results to a broader (mathematical) audience. This will also prepare them for their performance during the defence of the diploma theses.

Learning outcomes and competences:

Students will gain experience in presenting mathematical results. It may then be used by students when presenting their diploma theses (during the State Exam) or, eventually, results at scientific conferences, etc.

Prerequisites:

Students are expected to have certain knowledge acquired durind the previous study and when working out the diploma project.

Course contents:

In the course of the seminars, every student reports (in the form of a thirty-minute presentation) on the topic and results od his/her diploma thesis.

Teaching methods and criteria:

The course is taught as a seminar consisting of presentations of individual diploma theses.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes:
There is no exam. Students will be awarded a course-unit credit on condition of having attended the seminars actively and reported the diploma theses.
Controlled participation in lessons:

The presence will be checked. Absence will be allowed in justified case - to compensate it, students will be required to get acquainted with the diploma theses presentation of which they missed.

Acquaint students with formal and contentual aspect of professional reports including comments to the exploitation and quotation of the literature and the form of report presentations. After report realizations, subsequent discussions on their forms and contents.
