Design of Experiment (FSI-9PLE)

Academic year 2025/2026
Supervisor: Ing. Pavel Hrabec, Ph.D.
Supervising institute: ÚM all courses guaranted by this institute
Teaching language: Czech or English
Aims of the course unit:

The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the basic procedures used in effective experimentation and corresponding statistical analysis. The task of the course is to show that it is not enough to do it some experiment, but it is most necessary to look at the results after analysing the resulting model.
Student will be able to plan and statistically evaluate scientific experiment.

Learning outcomes and competences:

Prerequisites:

Course contents:

Introduction. Strategy for experimental design. Interaction. Two-dimensional models. Orthogonal design. Rotatable design. Central composite design. Mixture design

Teaching methods and criteria:

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes:

Exam will consist of a presentation of student's own usage of design of experiment (DoE) preferably in a field of student's own research/interest.
