CAD and Reverse Engineering in the Automotive Industry (FSI-BC0)

Academic year 2025/2026
Supervisor: Ing. Aleš Prokop, Ph.D.
Supervising institute: ÚADI all courses guaranted by this institute
Teaching language: Czech
Aims of the course unit:

The course aims to provide students with fundamental knowledge and skills in using Creo Parametric software, focusing on its key modules.

Graduates will learn to effectively apply their technical expertise with this software and will be capable of choosing optimal modeling procedures according to defined rules.

The course also includes gaining practical experience in reverse engineering, such as 3D scanning of components and subsequent geometry modification, enabling graduates to strategically and efficiently tackle assigned tasks.

Learning outcomes and competences:

Prerequisites:

Basic orientation in technical drawing and the skills needed for construction work, including the basic ability to understand spatial structure and visualization of 3D objects.

Course contents:

The course equips students with essential knowledge for effective use of the Creo Parametric design software. Throughout the curriculum, students will learn to create 3D models with a focus on logical sequencing of individual operations. They will also gain practical experience in areas such as reverse engineering, model modifications, and exporting 3D data for purposes like 3D printing or computational modeling.

Teaching methods and criteria:

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes:

The course-unit credit award is conditional on active participation in the exercises, where the ability to design work in the Creo Parametric software is continuously checked.

Attendance in exercises is compulsory, participation is checked by the teacher. The form of replacement of missed lessons is solved individually with the lecturer or with the guarantor.

Controlled participation in lessons:

Type of course unit:
    Computer-assisted exercise  13 × 2 hrs. compulsory
