Industrial Metrology (FSI-DPM)

Academic year 2020/2021
Supervisor: doc. Ing. Róbert Jankových, CSc.
Supervising institute: ÚVSSR all courses guaranted by this institute
Teaching language: Czech
Aims of the course unit:
The objective of the course is to familiarize the students with the basic methods of measurement and with their creative application in individual technologies. Special attention is paid to practical use, sensitivity of individual methods considering their application in quality control and application of ISO standards.
Learning outcomes and competences:
The course allows the students to obtain knowledge on some basic measurement methods applicable in individual technologies. Students learn to solve and perform practical applications in service conditions.
Prerequisites:
Knowledge of engineering technologies. Basic knowledge on structure and properties of materials. Principles and SI units for geometrical quantities metrology (physics).
Course contents:
The course familiarizes the students with measuring devices and their applications. Attention is paid to metrological confirmation in production processes. The focus is placed on the metrology of length, shape and relative position of components and functional surfaces. Students also learn basic methods for the measurement and assessment of parameters of surface texture.
Teaching methods and criteria:
The course is taught through lectures explaining the basic principles and theory of the discipline. Teaching is suplemented by practical laboratory work.
According to the possibility of teaching can be organized lectures for students by practitioners and excursions to companies focused on activities related to the course content.
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes:
Condition of course-unit credit award: presence in seminars, correct elaboration of laboratory assignment and active participation in its processing.
Exam: both written and oral, tests the knowledge of basic measurement methods, mainly their application on practical examples. It is graded on the ECTS grading scale.
Controlled participation in lessons:
Attendance in lectures is recommended. Attendance in exercises is compulsory. In case of regularly apologized student’s absence in the laboratory practice, the student may attend the laboratory practice together with other student team if agreed with the lecturer, or again in case of an apologized absence to participate in the alternative laboratory practice at the end of the semester.
Type of course unit:
