Aims of the course unit:
The aim is to increase the standard of diploma projects upon the systematic level.
Learning outcomes and competences:
Students get information about a systematic approach to the diploma project realization, to its content, structural and formal sides. The way of diploma project presentation.
Prerequisites:
Knowledge of problems concerning the individual diploma project.
Course contents:
This course should help students to elaborate and to present their diploma projects at a high professional level. They are introduced to the methodology and technology of scientific research, to the realization of literature retrievals, to the content-bearing and formal requirements of a diploma project. Principal ethical features of scientific work and of oral and written presentations are overviewed. Students are warned of substantial content-bearing mistakes, which frequently occur in diploma projects. The way of presenting a diploma project is shown. The title and content of everybody's own diploma project are consulted with each of the students.
Teaching methods and criteria:
The course is taught through exercises which are focused on practical topics presented in lectures.
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes:
Individual interview with every student about his own diploma project.
Controlled participation in lessons:
Presence in seminars is required and recorded.

2.Charakteristics of a diploma project.
3.System approach to the diploma project.
4.Problem situations and problems - definition and comprehensive analyses.
5.Approaches and methods in solutions to problems.
6.Logical methods, system analysis.
7.Statistical methods, modelling.
8.Creation of systems of significant quantities at real systems – creation of partial models.
9.Structure and methodology of computational modelling.
10.Credibility of results of modelling.
11.Factual side of the diploma project.
12.Formal and language side of the diploma project.
13.Presentation of the diploma project.
