Nondestructive Evaluation and Quality Control (FSI-9NTK)

Academic year 2021/2022
Supervisor: doc. Ing. Pavel Mazal, CSc.
Supervising institute: ÚK all courses guaranted by this institute
Teaching language: Czech or English
Aims of the course unit:
The objective is to provide theoretical and practical knowledge of the basic methods of non-destructive evaluation of materials, operation diagnostics their importance to quality management..
Learning outcomes and competences:
Students will master the methods of non-destructive evaluation of materials at the level of qualification grades I and basic of workers in the area of NDE.
Prerequisites:
Basic procedures of technological processes 1. Foundry engineering,
2. Welding, 3. Machining, 5.Bulk forming and sheet forming.
Fundamental chapters in general physics: 1. Mechanics of solids, 2. Mechanics of liquids, 3. Electricity and magnetism. 4. Oscillations and waves.
Interaction of selected physical quantities with environment.
Course contents:
System of defects encountered in the production of materials and operation of products. Defects in materials as anomalies of the physical environment. Description of the methods of non-destructive evaluation of materials and products, inclusive of their physical principles.
Instrumentation in non-destructive evaluation. Automation in operation test shops. It provides information on methods of evaluating the test results. Standardization in NDE branches. Description and application of non-conventional and unique methods of testing.
Teaching methods and criteria:
The course is taught through lectures explaining the basic principles and theory of the discipline.
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes:
Student writes a short report on an agreed topic related to the application of NDT methods within the topic of his dissertation. Knowledge shall be audited by an oral examination, focusing on the knowledge of the methods of NDT with a focus on applications related to the theme of the dissertation. The standard evaluation procedures are used according to the ECTS.
Controlled participation in lessons:
In response to the number of students is teaching realized in the form of regular consultations.
Type of course unit:
    Lecture  10 × 2 hrs. optionally
