    This paper is concerned with Francis water turbine power control issue. There are introduced six conceptions of power controllers and corresponding control loop features are discussed. The control features are illustrated with step responses and the major attention is paid to the undesirable under-control effect. On an example of control system with an elementary description and with relatively short turbine pipeline feeder are the control features compared.

    The article is concerned with output power control of hydro plant turbine. Six conceptions of output power controllers are presented and relevant control loop features are analyzed. The control effect is illustrated with step responses and the major attention is paid to the undesirable under-control effect.

    Significant attention is given to the analysis of control characteristics of the particular system parts and corresponding mathematical models are evolved. In the analysis are involved Francis turbine, hydraulic pipe set, electricity supply system and power set for turbine opening control. Linear and non-linear modes of control loop elements are considered, for variety of hydraulic complications are design corresponding models. The whole controlled system model for Matlab-Simulink environment is composed of the partial models. Different six performance turbine control situations are investigated by simulation. The results are chiefly reviewed by acquired quality control. The water hammer and the undesirable under-control effect in performance control, caused by a flowing water momentum effect in hydraulic set, is considered to be a serious problem.

    The contribution deals regulations using actuators with discontinuous output characteristics. From two up to eight position outputs with hysteresis are taken into account. Examples with PID controller and common regulation system are presented.
