Aims of the course unit:
The aim of the course introduces with the basic terms of dangerous activities in the sense of the regulations and laws. Students will be introduced with the duties and responsibilities of the machine operators, the duties and responsibilities of the supervisors (zone managers, leading groups) mainly from aspect of the making safe working environment and prevent injuries and breakdowns during controlling the earthwork machines.
Learning outcomes and competences:
The graduation of this course is obligatory for all persons interested in attaining driving licence for the earthwork machines. Students will gain knowledge necessary for the every officer who controls activities of the staff doing earthwork. His/her control work must comply with valid safety regulations and laws.
Prerequisites:
Students are required to have basic knowledge of a technical mechanics, physics, higher mathematics, machine parts and their mechanism, physics of the materials and principles of the electrotechnical engineering.
Course contents:
The course is aimed towards the safety regulations valid for the work with the earthwork machines. The course includes exploring of the construction zone, the securing of the excavation operations, the operation conditions of the earthwork machines, the duties and responsibilities of the machine operators, the forbidden handling with machines, the manner of the machines transport on the roads etc.
Teaching methods and criteria:
The course is taught through lectures explaining the basic principles and theory of the discipline. Exercises are focused on practical topics presented in lectures. Part of the course can be excursions to the companies, which manufacture or operate the equipments from the thematic area of education.
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes:
The presentation at seminars called The verification of knowledge of safety regulations
Controlled participation in lessons:
To get a graded course-unit credit students must attend seminars and elaborate assigned tasks.

    Exercise  13 × 1 hrs. compulsory                  
Course curriculum:
    Lecture 1. The interpretation of the terms.
2. The legislature.The work codex.
3. Employers duties.
4. Setting and preparation of the working place.
5. Ensuring excavation work.
6. Protective zones (conduct VN, pipelines, roads, railways etc.).
7. The duties of the machine operator before starting work.
8. The service conditions of the machines.
9. Prohibited operations with the earthwork machines.
10. The cooperation of a crane operator with a assistant.
11. Machines protection during interruption or finishing work.
12. The transport of the machines on the road.
13. The transport of the machines on the trailer.
    Exercise 1,2. The training of using basic regulations.
3,4. The projection of instructional films.
5,6. The practical demonstration of reparation in any company.
7,8. The practical demonstration of a machine in operation in terrain.
9,10. The formation of tests for work safety schooling.
