| Aims of the course unit:

| The aim of the course is to teach students how to prepare an oral conference contribution and to defend their results and views in a discussion. |
| Learning outcomes and competences:

| Experience of preparation and presentation of a conference speech. |
| Prerequisites:

| Students are supposed to have the knowledge acquired during the study related to the topic of their theses. |
| Course contents:
|
| Each student is required to deliver one or two fifteen-minutes reports on the results achieved when working out his/her diploma project. The presentation should meet the requirements for a short paper typical for conferences or for an introductory speech at the defence of the diploma thesis. |
| Teaching methods and criteria:

| The course is taught through exercises which are focused on practical topics presented in lectures. |
| Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes:

| Course-unit credit is conditional on active participation in the seminars and delivery of a short conference speech. |
| Controlled participation in lessons:
|
| Attendance at seminars is obligatory and is checked by the tutor. Missed lessons may be compensated for by the agreement with the tutor. |

The students are informed in detail about the requirements of a fifteen minutes conference speach. Each student delivers such a speech the subject of which is his/her diploma project and the content and form of the spech is immediately discussed at the seminar. |
