Development of magnetorheological fluid seal

Supervisor: doc. Ing. Ivan Mazůrek, CSc.
Specialist: doc. Ing. Michal Kubík, Ph.D.
Description:
The magnetic fluid seal which uses ferro-fluid is commonly used in industry. A major disadvantage of this concept is in low burst pressure (maximum pressure drop over which the leakage is observed), which reaches tenths of bar. The burst pressure can be considerably increases if the magnetorheological fluid and suitable design of magnetic circuit are used. However, this is a new research area and a lot of problem needs to be solved. Main goal of this work is design magnetorheological fluid seal which allows high level of tightness with respect to the possible leakage of the carrier fluid in extreme conditions. This is an experimental work using the existing experimental devices.
