Topic of doctoral theses

Stability of magnetorheological fluids during long-term operation

Supervisor: doc. Ing. Ivan Mazůrek, CSc.
Specialist: Ing. Jakub Roupec, Ph.D.
Description:
The aim is to describe a change in properties of magnetorheological fluids, which can occur during long-term operation of fluid, which can lead up to total degradation of MR fluid. The oxidation of iron particles is a driving force of such degradation. The level of oxidation can be influenced by size of dissipation energy and by controlling of temperature at loading. This thesis has an experimental character. The slit-flow rheometer for high-shear rates installed in programmable hydraulic dynamometer Inova will be used for loading and measurement. The viscosity in off-state, yield stress, MR fluid consistency and sedimentation rate at various stage of degradation will belong among the main monitored properties.
